I'm Coming Home!

SO i know its sad but apparently I have not posted since my first week of teaching here in Shanghai! And here I am posting the night before I leave back to the US. But if you guys know me...I think my stories are much better in person :)

So I left off talking about my first week at Disney...since then seven weeks have passed and I finished the summer term for my three classes. The kids were very energetic and excited to learn English! We just had our end of the year performances and all the kiddos did a great job!

Since the last post much had happened including the most important matter being that we received our first paychecks abroad. This allowed us to stop taking the free breakfast to go for lunch everyday and splurge a little on (gifts for everyone ;) )! Unfortunately we stick out like a sore thumb among most of the people at the fake markets so they pretty much know us at first sight! One of my coworkers gave me the nickname of "The Negotiator" I like to think my haggling abilities is somewhat of a talent! I've gotten lots of goodies that hopefully some of you will enjoy when I get back!

We have had the opportunity to explore two water towns just outside of Shanghai. Suzhou and Xuijaiojai (sp?) I got some great picks that I posted on my Facebook! Meghan and I also were fortunate to take a whirlwind trip to Beijing Leaving on a Friday evening and coming back Sunday evening! I have yet to post my picks but we saw all the great sights including the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Ming Tomb, and the Great Wall @ Ba Da Ling. The government tours also conveniently take you to the pearl and jade markets, a tea house, and a silk museum! We saw most of what we wanted and had decent yet hot weather! I cannot begin to comment on the weather here, Jeremy's mom was not lying when she said it would be "hotter then the hinges of hell"! The heat here is stifling and far worse then a hot summer in Florida...not to mention you walk most of the way to work! SO for my last today I treated myself to a cab ride out to work which still took about an hour!

I have always enjoyed traveling but China has definitely sparked an interest in making traveling more of a priority in my life! There is still so much I would like to see in this world...I just hope Jeremy or others close friends want to see it along with me to deter the homesickness! I am so exited to return home tomorrow...but I still feel as if I need a vacation!!!! So Bahamas here I come in two weeks! Cannot wait to see and hug everyone back home...sorry I was bad at blogging but I believe I warned you all in the beginning! Lots of Love!
